Nope, never heard of it, but I do see it in the kernel.

Odd, the source for pps-ktimer says it is a client, not a source.
But is does seem to be a test source.

And how exactly did you try it?  Without your command I can not 
duplicate.

Way too many variables here.  I do not see any use for pps-ktimer as
it applies to gpsd.
