OK, line 315 is the problem.

    % sed -n 315p <26.2.octet-stream | od -c
    0000000   .   E   N  \t  \n
    0000005

groff's eqn doesn't like a tab after .EN except in compatibility mode
and in your case you can't use that because you need the ms macros
which don't work in compatibility mode.  Remove it and all should be
well.
