That's a good idea. Just released t1utils-1.27; the t1ascii therein has a
'-w/--warnings' option, which will warn on lines longer than 255
characters.

How do you do this? Do you follow the full PostScript rules? Like tracking
multiline strings?
I ran 't1ascii -w' on my font collection and found several fonts, from
Adobe no less!, that have long lines *not* in strings: the Chaparral fonts
have a 336-character line in the /NormalizeDesignVector procedure, for
example. Just want to make sure you wouldn't introduce a backslash there.
