Which is just one example of "may cause non-obvious inconvenience later".

If software is good and stands the test of time, sooner or later,
people will want to incorporate it into another software package.
If you choose an outdated, known bad license like 4-clause BSD,
that may be impossible and hence greatly diminish the value of the
work you spend - even if it happens to still be borderline acceptable
for your current, immediate purposes.
