Oh, right, I knew about that, but I didn't realize it was
intended/allowed for general use. It would be nice if such a
mechanism were standardized via a SRFI so it might become more
portable.
the current guile srfi activity is very encouraging. let's hope srfi 22
finalizes (maybe it has already and i'm just clueless) and that we can
become compliant by next release.
