What about copying all the .el files to .../site-lisp, and copy the
other files elsewhere (for instance, ‘README’ and ‘ChangeLog’ to
share/doc/$PACKAGE, and .info files to share/info)?

Note that name clashes in profiles are annoying, but not fatal.
