Thanks Ludo, I should have mentioned that I did do that already. Viz:
bash-4.2$ echo $LOCPATH
/home/mec/.guix-profile/lib/locale
and also:
bash-4.2$ ls $LOCPATH | grep en_US
en_US
en_US.UTF-8
but still:
bash-4.2$ guix package -i bedtools
