As some have noted, there are hooks to make FreeDesktop standard
.desktop files.
However, there is an important note: While this works well with GuixSD
users, it might make Guix users' host desktop not start correctly if,
for clarification, Guix advises the user to add the XDG_DATA_DIRS
variable to his "~/.profile" file as suggested by Guix, and if the user
follows the suggestion "to the teeth", see:
