Dear All,

We are in the process of evaluating GNU Health for implementation at our hospital at Islamabad, Pakistan.

We have defined following SOP for the issuance of medicine to the hospitalized patients:
1) At the end of every day, the Head Nurse of the Ward will send a Medicine Issuance Request to the Pharmacist.
2) This request will contain ONE Day Dose of all the medicine required by all the hospitalized patients of that Ward.
3) The Pharmacist will approve the request.
4) The Warehouse Admin will issue the medicine to the ward.
5) The medicine will be updated in the Ward Store.
6) The head nurse will administer the medicine and update stock by stock moves.

In order to implement this SOP, I came up with following sequence of actions in GNU Health.

i) Head nurse will create an "Internal Shipment".
ii) Add lines in "Moves" section for every single medicine required for one day for each patient.
iii) Save the Internal Shipment.
iv) Pharmacist will approve the shipment. (Or reject it, if pharmacist finds some issue).
v) The Warehouse Admin will ship the medicine from the Warehouse only if the Pharmacist approved it.

Following are issues/queries in implementing this work flow in GNU Health.

a) At step (ii) the head nurse has to manually add lines in the internal shipment, although the system has the information about the daily medicine requirement of all the hospitalized patients in a Ward. Can these moves be automatically generated using hospitalized patients data?
b) The Pharmacist should be able to see only those Internal Shipments which are in Draft status and can Approve them.
c) The Warehouse Admin should be able to see only those internal shipment which are approved and can ship them.

Thanking you in anticipation.
Khurram.
