Thread expierence with bison

Hello,

I am thinking of a concept for a server that will have to parse input from its 
clients. So flex/bison came to my mind.
I have yet not decided if the server uses separate processes or threads to 
process requests from clients.

What are your experiences with a flex/bison built scanner/parser 
(threads/processes, longlevity, RAM consumption ...) ?
Where are pitfalls ?

Any pointers to this are apreciated.
