I think there is no need for an SQL database and it would be
painful to migrate at this point in time. The advantage
of BerkeleyDB is that it is fast and minimalistic.

The problem, I believe, is Red Hat's messy package management.
I have only seen problems with Red Hat -- no other versions of
linux seem to have problems.
