Hi,
I install Emacs to C:\Program Files\emacs-VERSION.
That I do. I have 21.4, 22.3, 23.2/23.3 versions to debug my '.emacs'
portability.
Here are the steps that I performed in upgrading from 23.2 to 23.3:
* Change the Emacs version number in the ALTERNATE_EDITOR system
environment variable.
Why this need?
* Change the Emacs version number in the PATH user environment variable.
That only things I do.
* Run C:\Program Files\emacs-VERSION\bin\addpm.exe.
Current 'info emacs' state that newer version of Emacs no longer need
run 'addpm.exe'.
* Change the "Start in" directory my My Documents folder.
How this effect for Emacs?
* Use regedit to delete "My
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\emacsclientw.exe".
Why this need?
