The Upstream University offers a training program aimed at helping
proficient developers contribute successfully to Free Software projects.
Each student is guided by a mentor who is experienced in upstream
contribution. The student works under the technical direction of the
lead developers of the Free Software project he aspires to contribute
to. Students and projects are screened based on suitability, as
explained in detail here:

http://upstream-university.org

A pilot program with a few students has demonstrated that the concept
works, but they need your help in shaping the curriculum. What would
you teach aspiring contributors to your project? What are the top do's
and don'ts?
