Renameing many filenames

Hi,

I can load a directory into a buffer of emacs (easy). Since, I have many files 
to edit there, I would like to edit the buffer like the buffer of a regular 
file and, then, at the end, write it back.

This is especially useful if there are only typos in the filenames.

How can I do that? Emacs says, buffer is read-only.
