I could not reproduce your problem on Emacs 20.6/7 on both Linux and
M$Windows (a.k.a. NTemacs).

Check you Emacs version with M-x emacs-version or better, you can 
report Emacs bugs by M-x report-emacs-bug (which will automaticly
add you version and computer system information).
