dialog boxes with Emacs

IMHO x-popup-dialog is somehow limited ;-) at least compared to the function
make-dialog-box of XEmacs.

Are there any tasks in the developers queue (maybe already in CVS?) to add
something like this make-dialog-box to GNU Emacs?
