And what do you put in ~/.emacs_bash?

For example, I've got this:

alias less=cat ; alias more=cat ; echo Hi! ; PS1='PROMT>'

and when I M-x shell, I get:

[pjb@thalassa pjb]$ Hi!
PROMT> echo 'Howdy?'
Howdy?
PROMT>
