The next Emacs release (Emacs 22) will support x86_64.  See my
User-Agent header.  See also the recent thread "Emacs on AMD64" on this list:

I don't know about your distribution, but others like SuSE provide
64-bit versions of Emacs 21 for their 64-Bit distributions.
