Launch GNU Emacs with the option --debug-init – still no debugger (gdb or such) will launch, you'll get a bit more output, some backtrace of Elisp calls and arguments, that led to the error. When your lucky you might see a number where the error happened. Then use the function goto-char!


You can prepare your user init file with (cond (= 23 emacs-major- version) ... or (if (< 23 emacs-major-version) ...
