What did I do? or rather, how did I do it?

I hit some keys accidentally and did something rather cool.  But I
don't know what I hit.

I had something like this:

echo ""
echo "
echo ""
echo""

I hit the magic combination, and ended up with:

echo ""  echo ""
echo "" echo ""


I actually started with a single column of 8 and ended up with 2 rows
of 4.

Anyone know what the command is, keystrokes, etc?
