OK. The trouble is, we will never now about the users that simply
abandon Emacs because of the terminology.

I'm not suggesting that's the only, or main, difficulty, of course.
The first (but not last) time I tried Emacs and failed, I was simply
frustrated that there was no simple menu option to say "just save the
current size and position of the main window" [frame, in fact].

Yes, for some people. Not all who learn Emacs have english as his
native language, and not all terminology is equally simple, or common.
I find "keybinding" horrible to this day, and I dislike "frame" almost
as much.
