"C-x" in general is a prefix for "major" commands, and "C-c" was
historically used to kill a program (you could question the significance
of "C-c" itself, but it was used so universally, its meaning was quite
firmly established).

Thus "C-x C-c" is a fairly logical binding, if you ask me.

[If you ask xahlee of course, he'll rant at you for a month about
timecubes.]

Now, the logic behind "Alt-F4" is, ... what, exactly?
