TBH I don't think it's exclusive to putty. I also get (mostly)
incomprehensible names when I try to use completion when customising a
face -
black blue brightblack brightblue brightcyan
brightgreen brightmagenta brightred brightwhite brightyellow
color-100 color-101 color-102 color-103 color-104
(etc.)
