Spanish keyboard outside of emacs and English keyboard inside of emacs.

How can I change emacs to use an English keyboard layout, whilst
keeping the Spanish keyboard layout when I am outside of emacs.

I tried

(set-input-method 'french-keyboard)

which sort of did what I wanted but in the wrong language. When I
turned it back using

(set-input-method 'british)

the keyboard turned back into my spanish keyboard layout.

NOTE: I do not want to manually remap the keys.
