Miles, as I've stated already, if you compare Emacs power users to IDE
rookies, you won't see much of a difference.  And Emacs users are very
likely to be way more knowledgeable than IDE users, because they have
to: they could not use Emacs for development otherwise.  IDE users,
OTOH, can just get along with what their IDE provides them.

I myself managed to develop code with Emacs - in Perl, for instance -
but as soon as I switched to a *real* IDE, my productivity soared.  I
then had both a powerful editor at my fingertips and an environment
assisting me and doing grudging work for me.
