I do not see that with Debian's Emacs-23 nor with Debian's Emacs-21 nor
with Debian's Emacs-20, nor with the Emacs development code. My wild
guess is that some of "your" zsh setup scripts (~/.zsh* but can also be
/etc/zsh*). reset it.
