running tramp/shell on windows

I am running emacs (latest) on windows 7. I use console2 for windows
shell/cmd window.
I have been unable successfully access a remote server/file using
emacs tramp. IRC feedback
suggested adding plink to my system32. It is there and accessable. I
added (setq tramp-default-method "ssh")
to my init.el file.
I am able to connect however, I see no prompts returned. I can run ls
and see files... without the OS prompt.
I am able to shell via console2 and securecrt no problem.
I just cannot do use from within emacs.
