I recently switched (back) from my compiled emacs to emacs-package
from debian.
emacs version is 23.3.1
And now I find that the help I used to get has gone.
Specifically, I tried to see column-number-mode. I get
column-number-mode is an interactive compiled Lisp function
etc
Earlier I was getting
column-number-mode is an interactive compiled Lisp function from such-
and-such file
So is this a deliberate change?
Or is it a bug? If so in emacs or in the debian port?
