Maybe the meaning of the delete key:

        DEL (translated from <backspace>) runs the command
        delete-backward-char, which is an interactive compiled Lisp function
        in `simple.el'.

Maybe your customisation or maybe the Suse variant of GNU Emacs (it could 
identify itself as whatever the builder set).
