Well, obviously you can't have *that*. Perhaps you should put your
energy at solving that rather than to reduce the impact by
shortening the load time?

I agree with the other poster - integrate the startup of Emacs
with the general system boot process, then don't shut Emacs
down. (But I'm not entirely as cool as he because I have to
"mount" my my computer physically each time I use it at my
school... To have an "always on" system would be so cool - you
know the `uptime' command, solely there so you can brag how long
your system was running like a Swiss watch.)

But back to Windows, a couple of years back, I actually deluded
myself that I could work in Windows, "I just need a shell
emulator, and Emacs", and I believed that, right until the moment
that I tried it. Emacs on Windows is *not* the same.
