Batch indent with specific mode

Verilog files usually have the extension *.v.

I want to batch indent a Verilog-syntax file named something.va following this 
idea:

If I directly on the file something.va it DOES NOT work:

$ emacs --batch verilog.va -f verilog-batch-indent

If I rename the file to something.v it works:

How can I tweak the batch function to work for *.va files?
