pushproperty syntax

The syntax for pushproperty seems to be changing everyday...  The following
didn't work in 1.3.72, then it did in 1.3.84, and now it doesn't work in
1.3.92.uu1:

   \pushproperty #'(basicStemProperties basicBeamProperties)
                 #'default-neutral-direction #-1

Can anyone tell me what it's supposed to be now, and if it's going to be
doing anymore changing in the next 18 microseconds?
