It seems your teTeX environment isn't setup correctly.
Bitmaps and font metric files are generated on demand in
teTeX. Every user needs write access to the directory where
the fonts are generated, which doesn't seem to be the case
in your installation.
The directory is specified in the file given by
'kpsewhich texmf.cnf' in the variable VARTEXFONTS.
Common choices on Linux systems are /var/lib/texmf/,
/var/spool/texmf/, /var/tmp/texfonts/
In network installation, you may want to have a single global
directory on a server instead of storing the files locally
on each machine.
