Hi Adam,

Thanks for the patch, which i believe is related (and i think
essential under some ways of compiling).

Just for reference in case anybody else has this problem, my
fixes were:
(1) use gcc 3.3 (per Chris)
(2) patch sarray.c (in the objective-c runtime libobjc) with
    Richard's patch
(3) configure the gnustep base with libffi explicitly enabled

(Nicola had also given me some build help earlier.)

Also: is there some argument i can pass to make (or some environment
variable i can set) which will cause it to echo the compilation
commands it is actually using?  (make --debug=all doesn't do it)

Thanks again for everybody's help (and all the work in putting GNUstep
together).
