As far as I am aware for most PCs (BIOS based systems) there isn't
even any awareness of dual monitors.  Even the VESA extensions that
the framebuffer is probably using doesn't seem to mention support:

On my dual monitor PC the video card happens to startup mirroring the
display to all outputs, This isn't altered until after X has been
loaded.
