That is enough.

>   configfile /boot/grub/grub.cfg

This is not needed (and I do not know what happens). Location of
grib.cfg is encoded in core.img; although I believe multiboot allows
passing parameters to executed binary, as of now grub does not parse
them. 

Configfile causes your current instance to read and execute new
configuration file.
