You might well find better responses on the address@hidden list... I
personally don't have any good ideas for you.
Except one: I know that you can get UNIX shells and environments for
Windows platforms, and you can configure GNU make to invoke those shells
instead of COMMAND.COM. I believe that's what a large number of people
using GNU make on Windows do.
If you can't do that, I don't know what to tell you :).
