GNU make to compile COPS 1.2.0

I am having a difficulty in trying to compile the COPS stack (release 1.2.0)

I am using a Solaris 7 platform and gcc 2.95

I have installed GNU make , but i don't know how to work with it.

please can you give me more informations to use GNU make to compile the COPS 
stack
