I think that might be specific to cygwin make.

There are a few, like
  MAKEFILES
  MAKEFLAGS
  SHELL (ms operating systems)
that are documented in the 3.79 manual.

Perhaps you could get a complete list by grepping the
sources for 'getenv'.
