Hi Jun,

You will find octave very nice once you learn a few fundamentals.
Poke a round a bit on the octave web site to find documentation/manuals.
Most of this will probably be in postscript format (.ps), so if you are
on windows, you will need to find the ghostview/ghostscript programs
(Do a web search, then download and install). Once you have octave
running, there is plenty of online help. If you have a unix machine,
all of the manuals will be readable within the program also.

Well, thanks. I can use all the blessings I can get at the moment... ;)

Couple of other things, from the internet etiquette department...
For best results extracting information from email lists such as this one,
make sure and read the email archives from the web site, and read the FAQ,
*before* posting a question. Set your email client to 7 bit ascii, because
many of us out here run simple text only clients. That is, we may be unable
or simply not interested in decoding attachments consisting of jpg pictures
etc. For example, your attachment appears as follows to me. Not particularly
enlightening. Much better to put a URL in your email signature, let the
curious browse when they have time.

[snip snap]

Again, you will find everything you need on the web. Remember that people are
busy,
and think before you post.

ps: I recommend http://www.google.com/ as a very good search engine for
finding octave documentation on the web.
