| I tried make clean but the recompile still failed. Any advice on what the

Try this: edit the generated config.h file and change
/* Define if your C++ runtime library is ISO compliant. */
/* #undef CXX_ISO_COMPLIANT_LIBRARY */
to
/* Define if your C++ runtime library is ISO compliant. */
#define CXX_ISO_COMPLIANT_LIBRARY 1
This problem should be fixed in CVS now and that fix should appear in
the next snapshot.
