Gnuplot's layout functionality

Hi,

is there any intention to incorporate Gnuplot's new 'layout' plot option 
for multiplots into Octave's multiplot, mplot or subplot functions by 
default?

Incorporation into subplot would ensure Matlab like plotting behaviour.
