I have an Athlon64 computer which has both 32 and 64- bit of FedoraCore4
distributions installed. I run some benchmarks, and while 64-bit
usually outperform
32-bit by 5 to 15 % , the a^1000 benchmark runs more than 50% slower.
E.g for 3000x3000 random matrix:
64-bit -- 2.133 seconds, 32-bit -- 1.309 seconds.
Is there some obvious reason for that? Or we just assume that this is
a quirk (due to an immaturity) of 64-bit compiler?
Sincerely,
Dmitri.
