I did this and now I can zoom in too. Very cool!

Same here. Does anyone know how to zoom back out to the original
orientation?

PS: shell> gnuplot --version
gnuplot 4.0 patchlevel 0
shell> octave --version
GNU Octave, version 2.1.71 (i486-pc-linux-gnu).
