Problem installing octave rpm on FC4

Dear

I am trying to install octave on my laptop. It givs a strange message that dependency failed. but when i check the /usr/lib path the libstdc++.so.6 exists.

Can somebody help me to figure out the problem?? Also is there any GUI for octave?

The steps i followed are:
1)
 rpm -ivh octave-2.1.72-3.fc4.i386.rpm

        libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.6) is needed by octave-2.1.72-3.fc4.i386

2)
rpm -ivh libstdc++-4.0.0-8.i386.rpm

        package libstdc++-4.0.0-8 is already installed
3)
ls /usr/lib/libstdc++
libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.so   libstdc++.so.5
libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so  libstdc++.so.5.0.7
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2         libstdc++.so.6
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3         libstdc++.so.6.0.4
