On 3.3.90 (MinGW & Linux) & 3.3.91 (MinGW):

octave:1> plot(1:3, "-r;1;")
octave:2> hold on
octave:3> plot(2*(1:3), "-b;2;")
octave:4> plot(3*(1:3), "-g;3;")
<...etc...>

shows that only the first item in the legend is affected (i.e., it gets the
key of the last added curve)

That's correct (at least for the MinGW build).

Is a bug report needed?
