Well, I'm stumped.  I didn't change anything or recompile anything, other
than setting the OCTAVE_HOME environment variable.  And I wouldn't think
reinstalling Octave would have any effect.  Sorry I can't be of more help,
but I've only been using Octave for a couple of weeks.
