currently octave builds fine configured with :

../octave/configure --disable-java --enable-shared --enable-float-truncate LLVM_CONFIG=/usr/bin/llvm-config lt_cv_deplibs_check_method=pass_all LDFLAGS="-Wl,-no-undefined"

Thanks very much for the info and for the help.

However, when trying to configure with the options you suggested above, I get:

"configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --disable-java"

It seems it's not a valid option....
