For those who want to try this out ...

        svn checkout 
svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/octave/code/trunk/octave-forge/extra/generate_latex 
generate_latex

and then cd to the generate_latex folder ...

        cd inst
        addpath (pwd (), "-end")
        savepath ()
