Are you sure you don't still have the
http://launchpad.net/~octave/+archive/stable URL somewhere in your
sources.list or sources.list.d? If so please remove it. The
apt-add-repository command will add the correct one but it won't clean
up any manual edits you've made. The URL for the PPA if you added it
correctly should start with "http://ppa.launchpad.net";, that's what
you should see in the output of the apt-get update command.
